School Fria Emilia

Fria Emilia is an independent, non-profit, non-public primary school F-9 in Boden. We approach our students with a mindset inspired by Reggio Emilia's thoughts on participation and exploration. We work based on a view of students as rich and competent, bearers of differences that enrich. Our school has been operating since 2004, and in the academic year 26/27, 260 students attend and we have 48 employees.

The school is located at Intendenturvägen 11 b, in the upper part of Boden. It is close to the bus stop with good bus connections to the school. This makes our school accessible whether you live in town or in the villages. We have close access to nature and the fine ski trails in Pagla. We are proud of our schoolyard, which was planned together with a landscape architect to promote joy of movement for our students. The schoolyard also has a school forest where teaching can take place.

Our nice premises are divided into three floors, each with a square. Creating meetings and good relationships is important to us. The same educators remain in the building throughout the school years, and substitute teachers are known to the students. As staff, we aim to know all students' names from grades F-9. We want all children to be seen and differences to be viewed as an asset. This creates security for both parents and students. Our Bistro serves two courses plus a salad buffet every day. One dish is always vegetarian, and everything is prepared in our own kitchen. In addition to the well-prepared food, the school offers fruit every day.

At Fria Emilia, we want students to experience their time at school as a whole and develop a long-term view of learning. Learning in different ways, together with the students, is central. Our students learn for the future and graduate from primary school with good results.

We have positive expectations for both our students and our staff, where we support and challenge each other. We see the school as a place where adults want to learn and develop together with the students. Fria Emilia should be a place to look forward to: a school that opens doors.

With that said, we hope that you want to become an important piece of the puzzle in our team!

Job Responsibilities

We are looking for someone with a teaching license for years 6-9 who wants to teach physical education and health. We would also appreciate if you have qualifications in Social Studies or Swedish. The school operates a two-teacher system that our educators highly value. Every week, time is set aside for collegial reflection for you as an educator. You will be part of one of the school's wonderful and driven work teams, and together with other educators, you will help develop the school and student learning.

Qualifications

We place great importance on personal suitability. You have a positive view of students and assume that all students want to and can based on their own conditions. You have good ability to create professional and good contacts with students, guardians, and colleagues.

Sense of responsibility and good collaboration skills are some of the personal qualities you possess, along with an interest in working in accordance with our fundamental ideas. To do this requires flexibility, good listening skills, and the courage to question and challenge yourself and others. We strongly believe in working together; work in school should not be solitary work, and we therefore strive to make work a team effort as much as possible.

Employment Conditions

The position is a permanent full-time employment at 100% with an initial probationary period of 6 months (provided you meet the Education Act's requirements for qualifications). Start date August 11, 2026, or by agreement. Recruitment and interviews are conducted continuously. The position may be filled before the application deadline.

Other Information on Salary, Remuneration, and Benefits

At Fria Emilia, a holiday employment applies with a local working time agreement that includes general compensatory time. Our agreement enables collaboration among school staff and a sustainable working life. When the workday ends, you go home; no after-hours work is expected of you. In practice, you can be off during virtually all holidays, resembling a school holiday employment, but with the advantage that you can influence when you want to schedule your leave during the academic year. We are happy to tell you more about our working time agreement if you want to know more!

We follow Boden municipality's academic year schedule.

At Fria Emilia, all staff eat a pedagogical lunch together with the students in our Bistro, where school meals are prepared by our chefs.

We offer one hour of life care per week. Yes, you read that right! With this term, we want to signal a breathing space without requirements for performance.
