Music Teacher for Secondary School
Description
Music Teacher for Secondary School
Duties
As a music teacher, you teach students in grades 7–9 and are responsible for planning, implementing, following up, and assessing music instruction. You create a safe, inspiring, and creative learning environment where students can develop their musical knowledge, listening skills, creativity, and ability to express themselves through singing, playing instruments, rhythm, movement, and ensemble work. In your work, you follow the national curriculum as well as the Waldorf school's educational plan A Path to Freedom.
One of the foundations of Waldorf pedagogy is teacher-led instruction, where the subject is brought to life through artistic, practical, and experiential methods. In music education, this means that students encounter music through their own creation, collaborative music-making, music history, ear training, rhythmics, and reflection. Digital tools are available but used restrictively, conscientiously, and purposefully.
Experience and Qualities We are primarily looking for a certified teacher with qualifications in music for the later years of compulsory school. Experience with Waldorf certification, knowledge of Waldorf pedagogy, or a clear interest in the Waldorf school's approach is meritorious. Other pedagogical education and experience in music teaching, choir, ensemble, stage work, or music creation may also be of interest. We place great emphasis on personal suitability and a willingness to practice Waldorf pedagogy.
You are communicative, confident in your teaching role, and naturally build trusting relationships with teenagers. You can lead groups in practical and creative work and can adapt instruction so that students with different experiences, conditions, and modes of expression have the opportunity to develop. You enjoy collaborating with colleagues, the student health team, and school management, contributing to the school's joint cultural and cross-curricular work.
As a music teacher, you have clear pedagogical leadership and a strong ability to plan and organize teaching, concerts, performances, and other musical occasions. You enjoy working creatively and see the importance of music in students' education, interaction, and personal development. We value your ability to inspire students to both musical depth and joy in collective music-making.
Do you want to be part of our teaching staff of approximately 50 committed colleagues? If you also have curiosity and a desire to grow as a Waldorf teacher together with colleagues and students, we offer an inspiring and serious collaboration with excellent opportunities for collegial learning and further training in Waldorf pedagogy.
If this sounds interesting, we might be the right place for you. Welcome to apply!
