About us

The Women's and Youth Helpline Borås is an independent non-profit association that, under democratic forms and from an equality perspective, works for the equal value of all people. The association's goals and activities are governed by its statutes.

The Women's and Youth Helpline Borås operates a sheltered accommodation that provides 24-hour stay places for individuals who need interventions in the form of protection against threats, violence, or other abuses, along with other relevant measures. At the Women's and Youth Helpline Borås sheltered accommodation, we welcome adults regardless of gender identity (and accompanying children) who have experienced men's violence against women, intimate partner violence, or honor-related violence and oppression.

About the position

We are now looking for a support worker for our sheltered accommodation. As a support worker, you will work with people who need assistance with their daily living. You will work largely independently but also in close collaboration with colleagues.

In this role, you will work with:

Providing individual support, care, and service interventions based on assignments.

You will work as a support worker during day, evening, weekend, and night shifts, and collaborate with colleagues, the board, and volunteers, and contribute to the development of the organization.

You must have a flexible approach

You must adhere to the organization's values and approach.

You must record documentation based on assignments and other significant events regarding each client.

You must collaborate with your colleagues concerning the accommodation's processes. Participate in logistics, staff meetings, supervision, and accommodation conferences.

You must support/assist residents in their daily lives to manage the living environment, such as dishes, cleaning, and following our routines.

You must read up and document in the logbook every day, and answer the on-call phone.

The assignment includes emergency placements and admissions that may occur during the night.

It is part of the assignment to provide a verbal handover when day staff take over.

Employment conditions

We are now looking for an employee for a permanent employment; we apply a six-month probationary period. The position is full-time with working hours day, evening, weekend, and night, following a rotating 4-week schedule. Night is a sleeping on-call shift with access to standby personnel.

We apply individual salary setting and other compensation in accordance with collective agreements. Start date for the position is as agreed.

Who are you?

As a person, you are service-oriented, attentive, and accommodating. The role as a support worker also requires patience, flexibility, and sensitivity. You should be calm and stable in situations that may be stressful and challenging.

As an employee at the Women's and Youth Helpline, we take collective responsibility for our work environment and strive to create a good atmosphere within the unit and the work group through respectful interaction. You who apply have social competence, can cooperate with others, and take responsibility for your work environment. We place great emphasis on personal suitability and the following competencies:

  • Education as a social pedagogue, behavioral scientist, or other equivalent education deemed suitable.
  • Knowledge of violence in intimate relationships, honor, and coercive measures.
  • Knowledge of legislation regarding sheltered accommodation.
  • You must have pedagogical insight into people's different conditions and be able to adapt your communication accordingly.
  • Experience working with people in crisis.
  • Good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing, as documentation is part of the job.
  • A B driver's license is required.
