About the assignment: We are seeking an interim manager for Täby Municipality!

Background:

The water and wastewater (VA) department is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and development of the municipality's water and sewer systems. The department is a central part of community development and plays a key role in ensuring a long-term sustainable and robust water and wastewater supply. In the coming period, the department faces several challenges, such as increased investment needs, requirements for facility renewal, capacity development, and work related to sustainability and environmental requirements.

Given this backdrop, there is a need for an experienced consultant in the role of water and wastewater manager (VA-chef).

Assignment:

The assignment comprises the role of VA Manager with overall responsibility for operations, finances, personnel, and development within the water and wastewater area.

The assignment is carried out mainly on-site (or as agreed).

Responsible for 15 direct reporting employees and a total of 30 staff within the unit. A group manager for operations is part of the organization with approximately 15 subordinate staff. The unit consists of both office employees and skilled workers.

The assignment corresponds to 100% and can be staffed by one or two consultants. The duration is 6–9 months, starting immediately.

Responsibilities and tasks

The VA Manager is responsible for:

• Leading, developing, and monitoring the VA operations (drift, maintenance, and investments)
• Overall responsibility for budget, forecast, and financial follow-up
• Ensuring delivery of drinking water and wastewater management according to legal requirements and quality goals
• Leading and developing the organization and employees
• Driving strategic issues related to:
• Capacity development
• Climate adaptation
• Sustainable water and wastewater supply
• Information security (NIS2)
• Overall responsibility for planning and execution of investment projects within water and wastewater
• Ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and authority requirements
• Responsibility for procurements and follow-up of contracts and agreements

Requirement profile

You should have:

• Relevant university education in, for example, community planning, civil engineering (road and water), environmental engineering, or equivalent
• At least 5 years of experience in a leadership role within water and wastewater or related operations
• Experience of water and wastewater operations (drift, projects, or planning)
• Experience with budget and profit responsibility
• Experience in procurement and contract follow-up

It is advantageous if you have:

• Experience from the public sector
• Experience of working in a politically governed organization
• Experience of major investment projects within water and wastewater
• Knowledge of water and wastewater legislation and environmental requirements
