Special Education Teacher
Description
Do you want to work in a school where relationships, democracy, and meaningful learning are central, and where special educational work is an integrated part of the entire organization? Backaskolan is now recruiting two special education teachers for our special teaching groups, one for middle school and one for lower secondary school.
Backaskolan is an independent F–9 school located in the heart of Sege Park in Malmö. We are a non-profit, ideological organization with approximately 270 students. Our pedagogy is inspired by Reggio Emilia and is based on participation, democracy, and aesthetic learning processes. We strive to create meaningful contexts through subject integration and an exploratory approach.
We see children and young people as active citizens and work consciously to strengthen their sense of responsibility, cooperation skills, and belief in the future, not least in relation to democracy and sustainable development.
Job Description
As a special education teacher in a special teaching group, you are responsible for a smaller group of students who need a more adapted environment. You work closely with the students in their knowledge development, as well as with their social development, self-regulation, and sense of coherence.

You collaborate closely with class teachers, student health services, and guardians, and are an important part of creating functional transitions between the special teaching group and the regular class.
Your main responsibilities include:
- Plan and implement teaching in the special teaching group
- Create a clear, structured, and predictable learning environment
- Adapt teaching and working methods based on each student's needs
- Work with students' knowledge development, social skills, and independence
- Collaborate with teaching teachers on inclusion and adaptations
- Participate in the student health team and contribute special educational expertise
- Cooperate with guardians to create security and continuity

We also see that you have:
- Experience working with students who need extensive support
- Good knowledge of adaptations, differentiation, and accessible learning environments
- Ability to create structure, clarity, and security in teaching
- Experience with low-arousal approaches and relationship-building methods
