Description

The Swedish Crime Victim Authority is Sweden's expert agency for crime victim issues. The authority works to improve information and support for those who have been subjected to crime by deciding on criminal damage compensation to victims, recovering paid compensation from perpetrators, funding research and crime victim-focused projects through the Crime Victim Fund, and acting as a knowledge center for crime victim issues. The authority is located in central Umeå.

An important part of a crime victim's reparation is the right to compensation. Each year, the authority processes more than 14,000 cases regarding criminal damage compensation and annually decides on compensation to crime victims exceeding 280 million SEK. When compensation has been paid out, the authority recovers as much as possible from the convicted perpetrator. The recovery cases are handled by the recovery unit.

We are now seeking a lawyer with a law degree to work at the authority's recovery unit. Your task will be in a debt collection operation, in close collaboration with other staff, to handle the authority's claims against convicted perpetrators.

The duties include legal work within the fields of claim law, enforcement law, and execution law. This means you will handle the Crime Victim Authority's claims through direct demands against debtors and claims via the Swedish Enforcement Authority. In your work, you will, for example, handle issues in the debt restructuring process, establish repayment plans, handle composition proposals, and draft various types of statements to courts, the Swedish Enforcement Authority, and other agencies. You will be involved in appeal processes as well as other processes where our claims need to be handled in court. You will also have frequent telephone contacts with debtors, and additionally participate in all other tasks occurring at the unit.

The work is multifaceted and varied, placing great demands on work capacity, judgment, and versatility.

We are looking for someone who

  • is positive, committed, and wants to work in an environment where tasks can vary
  • has the ability to make decisions and well-balanced prioritizations
  • expresses themselves well both orally and in writing
  • understands that claim handling concerns convicted perpetrators and that contacts with them place particular demands on treatment

Experience in administrative work at an agency is meritorious. You should have good knowledge of the Office package, and it is an advantage if you have telephone experience.

The recruitment refers to a permanent position with a probationary period, full-time. Start date according to agreement. We apply individual salary setting. We strive for diversity and an even gender distribution.

Questions about the job are answered by unit manager Sten-Håkan Sidebo. For union information, contact Ulrika Forsgren, SACO.

Welcome with your application no later than May 24, 2026 via email or by mail to the Crime Victim Authority, Box 470, 901 09 Umeå.

Attach usual application documents including relevant grades and certificates, and state your salary expectations. Mark your application with P 3/26.
