MALMÖ CITY THEATRE SEEKS FRONT OF HOUSE MANAGER
Description
We are seeking a front of house manager for an evening position at 75% temporary employment.
Malmö City Theatre is one of Sweden's leading theatres, with a mission to produce dramatic theatre in its full breadth. The theatre has four stages and produces approximately 15 productions per year, 3-4 of which are for children and youth. The foyers are a central part of the audience experience and an important part of Malmö City Theatre's interaction with the public. Here, people meet before, during, and after performances, and we want that interaction to be characterized by quality, warmth, and structure.
We are now looking for a front of house manager for an evening position with responsibility for routines and oversight of the foyers, with experience in service and hosting. The café and foyer department is managed by the café and front of house manager. The department is part of the marketing section, which is led by the marketing manager.
In the role of front of house manager, you work operationally in the business, mainly in the evenings, as the responsible host several evenings a week. You ensure that routines are followed and that the foyer environments maintain high quality, with an overall supervisory responsibility.
You handle practical issues that arise in the business and are responsible for routines related to service on our Intiman stage, procurement of materials for the foyers, and follow-up of programs (inventory, orders, and back issues). You also handle simple personnel matters such as sick reports when the regular manager is not on duty.
WE WANT YOU TO
- Have several years of experience in service work, preferably in a public-facing environment
- Be service-oriented with a strong sense of hospitality and audience interaction
- Be structured and responsible with the ability to make routines work in practice
- Have good collaboration skills and the ability to work independently
- Have the ability to handle practical problems and make decisions in the moment
WHO YOU ARE
The theatre is an environment where no two days are alike, which places high demands on flexibility, stress tolerance, and judgment. We are looking for someone who thrives in a social role, has an eye for detail, and sees the value in creating a well-functioning whole for the audience.
You are solution-oriented, responsible, and confident in taking initiative. You are communicative and contribute to a positive work climate. You work equally well independently as with others.
We value the qualities that a balanced age and gender distribution as well as ethnic and cultural diversity bring to the organization and therefore actively seek people with different backgrounds and experiences.
ABOUT THE POSITION
The position is a fixed-term employment at 75% from September 1, 2026, to May 31, 2027.
Working hours are mainly in the evenings and on weekends in connection with performances.
