Description

Do you want to work close to operational reality while contributing to the development of the fire and rescue service of the future?

Bergslagen Rescue Service is looking for someone who wants to combine analysis, development work, and operational understanding in an organization where you have real influence over how the rescue service develops its capabilities from everyday accidents to tasks within total defense during heightened or highest preparedness. With us, you get a central role in developing operational methods, management, and capability – in close collaboration with other actors in the region.

About Bergslagen Rescue Service

Bergslagen Rescue Service is a municipal federation for six municipalities with a total of approximately 85,000 residents. The federation has about 200 employees distributed across two full-time stations and six part-time stations. We work in an environment where decision-making paths are short and where ideas can quickly be put into practice.

We are part of the Rescue Region Bergslagen together with rescue services in Värmland, Dalarna, and Örebro counties. At the command center Seglet in Örebro, we collaborate daily with the Police, Ambulance Service, and SOS Alarm in a modern operational command environment.

We are in a distinct development phase where operational capability, collaboration, and total defense are in focus.

About the role

As an Operations Developer with us, you work with operational planning and business development with the goal that rescue operations can be carried out safely, efficiently, and with high quality.

You get a varied assignment where strategic work is combined with close ties to operational activities.

The work is carried out in close cooperation with managers, operational personnel, and external actors, and provides great opportunities to influence both working methods and development direction.

The content of the position may be shaped based on operational needs and your experience, but roughly it includes the following tasks/responsibilities:

  • Responsible for accident investigations and that experience feedback is carried out and developed in accordance with applicable requirements and needs.
  • Operational planning for Seveso facilities and other hazardous activities, including responsibility for plan content, timeliness, and usability during operations.
  • Drive the work to develop a robust rescue service, including continuity, redundancy, and capability during disruptions and heightened preparedness.
  • Case management and preparation of matters within the job's areas of responsibility.
  • Participation in development work within Rescue Region Bergslagen.

Opportunity for operational duty - Regional Incident Commander Örebro (RIL-Ö)

The position provides an opportunity for operational duty as Regional Incident Commander Örebro (RIL-Ö) within the Rescue Region Bergslagen, where you share this standby function with others in the system. This will put demands on where you reside during your standby.

In this role, you lead and coordinate rescue operations in a modern regional command structure and work closely with the operational command environment at Seglet. This provides a unique opportunity to combine business development with operational command in critical situations. We view very positively those who are already a RIL – or who want to develop towards the role.

Qualifications

  • You have completed one of the trainings: Squad Leader, Incident Commander, Fire Protection Engineer with the supplementary training RUB.
  • Class B driver's license.

Meritorious

  • Experience in a command function within municipal rescue service.
  • Education in project management or accident investigation.

Who are you?

You have the ability to translate experience from operations into concrete improvements in the business. You work independently, take responsibility for your assignments, and drive the work forward with clear structure and a long-term perspective.

At the same time, you are confident in prioritizing and making decisions when conditions change rapidly, and have the ability to shift between analysis and operational reality. You collaborate well with others and build trust in both internal and external contexts.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
