Special Education Teacher
Description
About the job
Uppsala Enskilda Skola is an independent, foundation-driven primary school from preschool class to year 5. This means that any profit is reinvested directly into the operation. We have approximately 260 students and 34 employees.
The school has two parallel classes from preschool class to year 3 and one parallel class in years 4 and 5. In each class, a class teacher works together with at least one resource teacher. The after-school program is an important part of our school, and many students participate daily.
We place great emphasis on a relational approach and work with low-affect responses. Here you will meet a dedicated staff group with high expectations for both students and colleagues, where we work together to create a safe, structured, and accessible learning environment.
We are now looking for a special education teacher for a substitute position during the fall semester, starting August 10 through the end of the calendar year.
Your responsibilities
As a special education teacher with us, you work both directly with students and in a consultative role, focusing on creating good conditions for students in need of support.
The assignment includes among other things:
- planning, implementing, and following up on instruction for students in need of special support
- conducting educational assessments
- contributing to the design, implementation, and follow-up of action plans
- providing support to students individually or in small groups
- guiding and supporting teachers and resource staff in working with extra adaptations and special support
- contributing to the development of accessible learning environments in the organization
- participating in the student health team's work and meetings with guardians
You work in close collaboration with the principal, educators, resource staff, and guardians.
In this position, you are the sole special education teacher, which means you have a central and important role in the school's work with special support and inclusion.
Who are you?
We are looking for someone who is a licensed special education teacher.
We would like you to:
- have experience working in lower or middle school
- be confident in your professional role and able to work both independently and in close collaboration with others
- have a good ability to analyze students' needs and translate this into practical interventions
- be clear, structured, and quality-conscious in your work
As a person, you are flexible, solution-focused, and have a genuine commitment to students in need of support. You find it easy to build good relationships and thrive in a role with many points of contact.
With us, you will get:
- a central role in a smaller and cohesive operation
- the opportunity to influence and develop special education work
- a workplace with committed colleagues and close collaboration
- a school with a clear focus on relationships, structure, and safety
We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
The position is a substitute from August 10 through the end of the fall semester, December 22, 2026.
