Description

Do you want a meaningful job that makes a difference for people's integrity and research ethics?

The Swedish Ethical Review Authority is seeking a case officer for the office in Lund. Here you get an opportunity to contribute to safe and ethical research that affects people across Sweden. We are looking for someone who enjoys order and structure, likes administration, and wants to be part of a small but engaged team where everyone helps each other. We offer a varied job where you have contact with both researchers and colleagues around the country – and where your accuracy and service-mindedness truly make a difference.

About us

The Swedish Ethical Review Authority is a small authority with great responsibility. We are located in six places around the country and ensure that all research involving humans is conducted with respect for the individual's integrity and value. At the office in Lund, you will become part of a team of three, where joy at work and collaboration are important ingredients in everyday life. Our manager is based in Uppsala, but we work closely across locations using digital tools and regular meetings, both physical and digital.

We like short decision-making paths, an open climate, and everyone contributing to how we develop routines, working methods, and the work environment. Your engagement is important here.

About the job

As a case officer, you have and take overall responsibility for ethics applications that come to the authority. Your responsibilities include ensuring that the application is complete before decisions are made, supporting decision-makers with what, for example, praxis says, and writing decisions. However, you are not the presenter and do not make decisions.

Other parts of the job can include:

  • Providing support and advice by phone or email to researchers who have questions about ethical review or their ethics application.
  • Processing requests for disclosure of public documents and conducting confidentiality assessments.
  • Managing administration related to decision meetings, writing minutes, and preparing draft decisions.
  • Processing applications for amendments to already approved cases.
  • Participating in common practical office work and other development tasks.

The work is performed both independently and in close collaboration with colleagues, both in Lund and at our other locations. We offer the possibility of partial remote work. Work trips may occur when needed at other locations or for authority-wide meetings.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone who is accurate, structured, and responsible – and who enjoys providing service and support in everyday work. To thrive in this role, you also need to like working independently and be able to prioritize among tasks.

We require that you have:

  • Relevant university education or equivalent experience.
  • Several years of experience in case processing within the public sector.
  • Previous experience in processing ethics applications.
  • Very good computer skills and experience with various systems.
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
  • Experience in registration, archiving, and confidentiality review of documents.
  • Possibility to start the employment as soon as possible.

Great emphasis is placed on your personal qualities. We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a strong ability to independently plan and prioritize your work.
  • Has a strong ability to adapt work to what is needed at the moment.
  • Has a strong sense of responsibility for both your own work and common tasks.
  • Has a positive attitude towards your workplace and your colleagues.
  • Has a willingness to collaborate and finds it easy to communicate with others.
  • Has an unpretentious attitude towards all types of tasks, including practical office tasks.

We offer you:

  • A meaningful job with societal benefit.
  • Short decision-making paths and the opportunity to influence.
  • An open and helpful work climate.
  • Flexible workplace with the possibility of some remote work.
