Cultural Environment Engineer for Major Infrastructure Assignment in Gävle

LetsGig is now seeking an experienced consultant in cultural environment for a longer full-time assignment with a major public actor in transport infrastructure. The assignment is suitable for someone with practical experience in cultural environment issues related to road, railway, or other infrastructure, who wants to work in a role combining case management, inventory support, authority matters, and strategic development work.

About the assignment

Scope: 100%

Start: preliminarily June 1, 2026

Duration: 2 years with possible extension for an additional 1 year

Place of employment: Gävle

Workplace: physical presence in Gävle required 3 days per week

Travel may occur in the course of duties

At the end of the assignment, LetsGig works to find a new relevant assignment for the consultant.

Tasks

In this role, you work as technical support for cultural environment issues related to road and railway facilities. The work may include:

Support and handling of cultural environment issues from the organization

Preparation of documents and requirements related to operations, maintenance, and infrastructure work

Review of cultural environment requirements at start-up meetings and in projects

Support in ordering and conducting permit and baseline inventories

Support in internal and external processes related to road and railway environments

Participation in work on regulations, routines, and development of working methods

Preparation of documents for targeted environmental measures and measures in maintenance plans

Work with authority matters, e.g., permit applications and consultations

Mandatory requirements

To be considered for the role, you must meet all requirements below:

Higher education of at least 180 credits with a focus on cultural environment, e.g., archaeology, cultural geography, ethnology, conservation, building antiquarian, settlement antiquarian, object antiquarian, or equivalent relevant education or experience.

At least 1 year of professional experience in handling cultural environment issues in infrastructure.

The experience of cultural environment issues in infrastructure must be current and no older than 3 years.

Experience with cultural environment inventories in infrastructure environments.

Basic knowledge of the Cultural Environment Act.

Good ability to express yourself orally and in writing in Swedish.

Good ability to express yourself orally and in writing in English.

Current safety training for work on roads/APV, or equivalent training.

Completed course in general railway technology – engineers, or equivalent training.

Valid B driver's license in Sweden.

Ability to work 100% in the assignment from preliminarily June 1, 2026.

Ability to work on site in Gävle 3 days per week.

Merit criteria and particularly qualifying experience

It is strongly meriting if you have experience in one or more of the following areas:

Cultural environment issues related to road and railway facilities

Cultural environment inventory in infrastructure environments

Permit applications, consultations, and authority dialogue

Work with the Cultural Environment Act in practical projects

Experience from the public sector, county administrative board, municipality, or larger infrastructure organization

Experience from consultancy assignments in cultural environment, archaeology, antiquarian advisory, or environment/permits

Experience in producing documents, requirement texts, reports, or decision materials

Experience working close to technical specialists, environmental specialists, project managers, or maintenance organizations

Previous work in or near major infrastructure projects

Personal qualities

We are looking for someone who is self-driven, meticulous, and structured. You need to be able to handle multiple parallel issues, express yourself clearly in writing, collaborate with different competencies, and be confident in dialogue with both technical specialists and authorities. The role requires that you can translate your cultural environment expertise into practical support in a larger infrastructure-based organization.
