Senior Automation Test Engineer

Role Description

We are looking for a Senior Test Automation Engineer to join a high-impact team within the banking sector, working on a fund trading platform. In this role, you will own the test automation strategy and execution in a complex, backend-heavy environment, collaborating closely with development, DevOps, and product teams to drive quality and delivery speed.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, reusable test automation frameworks
• Build and maintain automated tests across UI, API, and integration layers
• Develop automation for functional, regression, and integration testing
• Execute manual and exploratory testing where automation is not optimal
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous delivery
• Prepare and manage test data, analyze results, and report defects clearly
• Automate repetitive workflows to continuously improve testing processes
• Collaborate cross-functionally to embed quality across the full development lifecycle

Requirements

• Strong experience balancing automation and manual testing
• Proficiency in Java 21+
• Experience with Spring Boot and Hibernate
• Hands-on experience with Selenium or Playwright
• Experience with JUnit / TestNG and Cucumber (or similar)
• API testing experience using REST Assured or equivalent
• Solid understanding of SQL and relational databases
• Experience testing event-driven systems (Kafka, JMS, MQ)
• Familiarity with OpenAPI / AsyncAPI
• Experience with Git and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins
• Strong understanding of OOP and design patterns
• Experience testing complex distributed backend systems
• Ability to design structured manual test cases and conduct exploratory testing
• Fluent in English
