Musical educator with a heart for children

We are now looking for an engaged and relationship-building educator who can lead the congregation's work with children and families. If you also long to use music as a working tool, this could be the job for you :)

Communicating the gospel to children and families is central to Sävar-Holmön Parish, and for many years we have worked purposefully to build long-term relationships. The result of that work is well-filled children's groups and great trust among parents, schools and community organisations alike. Now we are looking for someone who wants to both steward and further develop that work.

A key role

You will have a leadership role for the congregation's various children's groups, with emphasis on the work with children of middle-school age and their families. With the support of the congregation's musicians, you will also lead our children's choirs.

The congregation's ability and willingness to cooperate with others is an important part of the positive development we have seen, and therefore nurturing and developing the very good relationships with schools, community organisations and other churches is a priority.

You are coming to a well-functioning operation and a well-coordinated team, but your ideas, your commitment and your ability to cooperate will be decisive for how we succeed going forward. At Sävar-Holmön Parish we work across boundaries; what matters most is not your title but what you can contribute to the whole. That priests take part in the children's groups or the housekeeper leads a grief group is nothing strange in our congregation.

Who are you?

We believe you are a parish educator, teacher or music educator with experience of working with children of middle-school age, if not in the church then in schools, after-school clubs or community organisations. You have a good ability to both inspire and provide care, and you carry a longing to share the Christian faith with both children and adults. Your ability to meet people at eye level regardless of age can change lives!

We do not require any formal music education, but you need to feel comfortable using song and music in your work. You need to find it easy to organise and run children's and family work both independently and in cooperation with colleagues.

You are, of course, a member of the Church of Sweden (which, incidentally, is a requirement for employment), but you are also well rooted and feel at home in the church.

A category B driving licence and access to your own car are requirements for employment.
