Travelling Service Technician - International Assignments
Description
Do you want to work practically with technical systems, take responsibility, and solve problems at customer sites around the world?
SARSYS AB develops and manufactures systems for friction measurement and weather information for airports and roads. Our systems are used in more than 70 countries and combine vehicle technology, mechanics, electrical engineering, hydraulics, sensors, and control systems.
We are looking for a travelling service technician who wants to work with installation, service, and troubleshooting of our systems at customer sites worldwide.
Travel is a central part of the job. You will normally be on assignment about three weeks per month and therefore need to enjoy a job where destinations, customers, and technical challenges vary.
Location: Malmö and surrounding area
Start: As soon as possible or by agreement
About the job
As a travelling service technician, you are responsible for ensuring that our systems are installed, maintained, and function as they should at the customer's site.
You often work independently on site and need to be able to plan your work, troubleshoot methodically, and drive the assignment forward. At the same time, you have access to technical support from colleagues in Sweden when needed.
You are not expected to know our products from the start. You will receive introduction and product training, but you need to have a solid technical foundation and previous experience of practical troubleshooting.
When you are not on assignment, you work with, among other things, service, repairs, testing, preparations, and technical feedback in Sweden.
Your main tasks
- Installation and commissioning of systems at customer sites.
- Preventive service, maintenance, and repairs.
- Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
- Work with hydraulics, sensors, and control systems.
- Upgrades and rebuilds of existing systems.
- Being attentive to customer needs and identifying opportunities for, for example, spare parts, upgrades, additional service, and other solutions.
- Technical support and instruction to customers.
- Planning and execution of work on site.
- Documentation and preparation of service reports.
- Feedback on technical problems and improvement suggestions.
- Preparation, testing, and service of equipment in Sweden.
- International service trips, normally about three weeks per month.
We are looking for someone who
- Has a few years of practical experience as a service technician, vehicle or mechanical engineer, mechanic, maintenance technician, or equivalent.
- Has a good understanding of mechanics and systematic troubleshooting.
- Has practical experience of electrical work or vehicle electrical systems.
- Can use measuring instruments, such as a multimeter, for troubleshooting.
- Can read and understand technical documentation and electrical schematics.
- Has a commercial mindset and understands the importance of paying attention to customer needs and opportunities that can create added value for both the customer and SARSYS.
- Is used to working independently and completing tasks without constant supervision.
- Can communicate professionally with customers and clearly report back on completed work.
- Has the opportunity and willingness to travel internationally about three weeks per month.
- Is proficient in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
- Has a B driver's license.
Relevant practical experience and technical understanding weigh heavier than a specific education or degree.
Your way of working
For us, your way of working is at least as important as exactly which products you have worked with previously.
You take responsibility for the entire assignment, keep the customer and colleagues informed, and speak up in time if something risks affecting the result or timeline. When you discover a problem, you also try to contribute a possible solution.
You can make your own decisions and drive the work forward, but at the same time are unpretentious, listen to others, and take in feedback. You share your knowledge and contribute to good cooperation both at customer sites and internally.
SARSYS is a smaller international company with short decision-making paths.
This means you get a great opportunity to influence, but also that all answers are not always in a ready-made manual. You therefore need to thrive in an organization where products, working methods, and processes continue to develop as the company grows.
Meritorious
It is meritorious if you have experience of any of the following:
- Vehicle electrical systems or electrical systems in machines and special vehicles.
- Hydraulics or pneumatics.
- Control and regulation technology.
- Construction machinery, trucks, agricultural machinery, or industrial machinery.
- Installation and commissioning at customer sites.
- Previous work as a travelling service technician.
- Technical customer training.
- Additional languages beyond Swedish and English.
You do not need to know everything. We are primarily looking for the right combination of technical foundation, independence, collaboration skills, and willingness to learn.
Travel and employment conditions
International travel is a central part of the job and the length of trips varies depending on customer and assignment.
Work is primarily planned during regular working hours, but overtime and weekend work occur when the assignment requires it.
The employment is covered by the IF Metall Technology Agreement. Travel time is compensated according to current terms, and working time reduction is accumulated in a time bank. For business trips, a per diem is paid and you receive a company card for work-related expenses.
We offer
- A varied and independent technical role.
- Introduction and training in our products and systems.
- International assignments at customers in the airport and road sectors.
- Great personal responsibility with technical support from colleagues in Sweden.
- Short decision-making paths and opportunity to influence.
- A job where mechanics, electrical engineering, hydraulics, and customer contact are combined in practice.
- Collective agreement, working time reduction, and compensation for travel time and overtime according to current terms.
- Per diem and company card for business trips.
